I.B.P.O.E.W. Jacket

The Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World, is an African-American fraternal organization which is silently and secretly embedded within our neighborhood. I imported the structure of the lodge into the structure of the jacket and combined the two in a play of interior and exterior. By flipping the jacket inside-out, I 'open' the locked doors of the I.B.P.O.E.W. lodge. Despite the lack of access, by importing, the meanings of the jacket and lodge, and the organization are expanded by an exploration of surface.
